We are a communal archive, research hub, and educational center dedicated to critically exploring the complex relationships between technology, the body, and identity. At the heart of our questioning is the selfie—a powerful site of convergence where material, digital, and cultural forces intersect.
In this way, the selfie becomes a catalyst—a visual artifact through which we can understand the complex, multi-layered experiences of living in an increasingly tech-mediated world. It is a site of potentialized liminality, where the boundaries between self and other, private and public, physical and virtual, are continuously challenge, negotiated and redefined.
Have you noticed how difficult it is to find current, relevant scholarship+art on the selfie in one place?
We want to change that.
